Thanksgiving - More Proof America's Roots are in Faith

Most don't realize or simply deny the fact that early settlers of our nation were people of faith - of the  Christian faith to be more specific.

At the time of the first Thanksgiving celebration, the settlers had laws that even required everyone to attend church. Can you even imagine that today?

There is no doubt that American Thanksgiving was established and created by Pilgrims that were believers. Their faith is what pushed them to rebel and separate from English rule and their Faith in God is the only thing that sustained them during their difficult travels and hardships.

Originally, even the English celebrated a "thanksgiving" in which they gave thanks for successful crops and harvest. The Puritans and Pilgrims eventually combined the two reasons into one event which will still observe today, much to the disdain of the Pilgrims.

One simple documentation proving Thanksgiving based in Christians roots was this Congressional statement from 1789. Enough said.

Day of Thanksgiving. Resolved. That a joint committee of both Houses be directed to wait upon the President of the United States to request that he recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging, with grateful hearts, the many signal favors of Almighty God...." (U.S. Congress, in a resolution to establish a National Day of Thanksgiving, 9/25/1789

Can you even imagine our current Congress supporting this obvious and blatant endorsement of Faith?

How far we have come in removing God from our nation. We must preach the truth. American is One Nation Under God.
